I’m a bibliophile, foodie, and history geek. I hold degrees in ethnic studies and history from UC Berkeley. I also love to travel around the world!

Two years ago I walked the ancient pilgrimage route, El Camino de Santiago, from Leon to Santiago. I’d never experienced anything like it before in my life! The road was literally paved with gratitude, love and acceptance. On the Camino I learned how to live and love freely. The experience gave me a whole new way of looking at the world from a position of profound gratitude and service.

I decided then and there that I wanted to slow down the pace of my life so that I could connect more with people and better appreciate the world around me. I retired from my day job and started my own travel & tour business to offer travelers a new way to travel, one that allows you to stop and smell the roses.

I enjoy designing tour experiences that explore different aspects of the past and present. What better way to combine three of my favorite hobbies: history + food + travel = love. I hope you’ll drop me a line to let me know where you’d like to go next!

Shella Brenner, M.A.

Experience Designer

Shella holds degrees in English literature and history and is certified as a Tour Director by the International Tour Management Institute (ITMI). She has lived in New York, Hawaii and California. A 30-year career as a manager and fundraiser in progressive nonprofit organizations has sustained a longtime addiction to travel and a keen interest in history, literature, and classic film. Shella is also passionate about animal rescue and can barely walk down a street in Italy without stopping to talk to a cat.

Her love of going places began modestly with a child’s excitement at boarding a commuter train all by herself from suburban Long Island to Manhattan to visit her older brother.  She started traveling “for real” in her early 20s and has never stopped with France, Italy, Ireland, the Netherlands and Mexico calling her back again and again.

Shella is a convert to solo and slow travel—relishing the feeling of settling in and not just passing through a place quickly. She notes, “There is so much joy in making a pub My Local and being greeted at a farmer’s market when they recognize me as a regular.” Traveling with Shella always promises an authentic experience.
